Social Media Content Calendar (30-Day Planner)
A 30-day content planner with four pillars and a weekly cadence — built to keep indie rappers posting without burning out.
What this is
A one-month content plan built around four pillars and a repeatable weekly cadence. Print it, fill it in on Sunday, and shoot content in batches instead of scrambling for something to post at 11pm.
The problem most indie artists have is not "I don't post enough." It's "I post reactively." You drop a snippet when you're gassed about a beat, then go silent for eleven days, then panic-post a mirror selfie the day before your single drops. Algorithms punish that pattern — consistency signals matter far more than any single post.
This calendar solves for two things at once: it forces variety (so your feed isn't just performance clips), and it creates a rhythm you can sustain when you're tired, uninspired, or on the road.
When to use it
Use it any time you feel like your posting is random, or you're 4–6 weeks out from a release and need a rollout plan. Batch shoot every 7–10 days: block two hours, set up a phone tripod, and record 8–15 pieces of content in one sitting. Then all week is editing and captioning, not staring at the wall.
Common mistakes
- Only posting music clips — algorithms and humans both fatigue on this
- No content pillars, so every post feels like an ad for the same song
- Batching in your head instead of on a page — nothing gets shot
- Posting the same vertical video, same length, same day across every platform without any change
- Ghosting for 2 weeks then dropping 4 posts in a day
- Treating stories as an afterthought — stories are where existing fans actually see you
- Chasing trending sounds that have nothing to do with your artistry
How to use it
- Pick your four content pillars. Defaults below; feel free to swap.
- Music — snippets, live takes, studio moments, released tracks
- Personality — day-in-the-life, humor, opinions, unfiltered moments
- Craft — how you write, how you record, gear, references, breakdowns
- Community — collaborators, fan reposts, city, scene, other artists you rate
- Pick your platforms. For most indie rappers: TikTok, Instagram (Reels + Stories), and either YouTube Shorts or a YouTube long-form channel. Adding a fourth platform typical cuts quality on the first three.
- Lock the weekly cadence (see template). Total target for a sustainable indie artist rhythm: 7–10 posts per week across platforms, plus daily stories on IG. If that feels heavy, cut to 5–6; consistency beats volume.
- Sunday: fill in the coming week's grid. Assign a pillar to every slot before writing the specific idea. This is the trick — pillar first, idea second.
- Monday or Tuesday: batch shoot everything you can. Overshoot by 30%; some clips won't survive editing.
- Post at consistent times. Rough guidance (varies by audience): TikTok performs typical in the 6–10pm window in your audience's time zone; IG Reels perform typical mornings and evenings. Test and adjust with your own analytics — do not trust generic "best time to post" charts.
- At end of month: review what the top 3 and bottom 3 posts had in common. Adjust pillars, hooks, or cadence for next month. Do this in 20 minutes; don't spiral.
